Vale – Stan Anderson

Stan is an original inductee of the Clubs Wall of Fame in 1997 for his outstanding contribution to the organisation as a player, committee person and Sports Medicine Trainer.

A quality player formerly from Melbourne based VFA Club Box Hill, Stan moved to the Canberra District in the late fifties joining the Tigers and played in its 1961 Grand Final team.

After his playing days, Stan became involved in the field of Sports Medicine - a position he enjoyed throughout his retirement from the playing field until the mid nineties. Sons Robert and Ian both played senior grade football for the Tigers - Robert enjoying an outstanding career which included stints with Footscray (now the Western Bulldogs of the AFL) after which he continued a 229 1st Grade game career with the Queanbeyan Tigers. Stan has two grandsons now playing senior grade football for the Tigers – Neil and Ross, Neil being a member of last years 1st Grade Grand Final team.

The Club forwards its sincere condolences to wife Bernice, children Janice, Susan, Robert and Ian and their respective partners and grandchildren.

A funeral service for Stan will be held in the Canberra Baptist Church, Currie St Kingston on Monday January 24 from 11.00. A private cremation will follow. After service refreshments will be served from the Tigers Club.
