Margaret Donoghoe Sportsground revamp
9th February 2005

Work is well underway at the Margaret Donoghoe Sportsground to provide a walkway from the car park end of the ground to the grandstand, to give patrons attending games better access through an area well known for being extremely wet during the winter months. Concern had been raised in regard to wheelchair inaccessibility to the grandstand from the car park.

The walkway has been planned for some time with popular club members Chris, Michael, Dave and Jane Haddock donating some 3,000 pavers for the walkways construction mid last season. Tragically, Michael Haddock lost his life in a car accident on Christmas Eve.

Now, in conjunction with the Queanbeyan City Council, Canberra United Landscapers, the Tigers Club and from further donations from the Haddock and Geraghty Families the walkway is near completion and will be dedicated to the memory of Michael. The dedication will be performed at the Clubs first home game of the season on April 9th against Wagga Tigers.

A letter of appreciation has been forwarded to the Wagga Tigers Club for agreeing to change the match to Queanbeyan (it was originally scheduled for Wagga) and we now formally recognise and appreciate their (Wagga Tigers Football Club) gesture through the pages of this website.
