The Tigers home ground is in absolute magnificent condition (see pictures)
and a huge credit to the Queanbeyan City Parks and Gardens Staff who have
worked tirelessly over the summer months to have the ground in immaculate
condition for the opening pre season competition games of 2005 on Sunday
March 13. Well done Grant Taylor and his crew.

Tigers Walkway
Queanbeyan
City Council in conjunction with the Tigers Club has been active during
the past month constructing a pathway from the grandstand to the carpark
behind the Licensed Club end goals.
The path looks fantastic (see picture) and will be dedicated to
the memory of Michael Haddock on 9 April at the Tigers first home match
of the competition proper against Wagga Tigers.

introduction of Major Corporate Sponsors for Season 2005 of which another
two major companies in the district have joined forces with our organisation.

SERAS
Well done to the lads on Scholarship with the South East
Region Academy of Sport for their first up win over the RAMS Under 15
Development Squad last Sunday at RMC Oval. Under the guidance of Rick
Miller, the lads took an important step in the programs development which
has only been operating for two years.
The Tigers are well represented in the Squad with 12 players from the
Clubs Under 16 and Under 18 Grade teams featuring in the program.
The match was scheduled to be a curtain raiser game at Manuka
Oval to the Wizard Cup match between the Kangaroos and Geelong but unfortunately
required a transfer to RMC due to the wet weather.
A further match against the RAMS Under 16 Development Squad will be held
on Sunday 6 March at the Margaret Donoghoe Sportsground in the afternoon
followed by another proposed curtain raiser match on 2 April to the Swans
v Kangaroos at Manuka Oval.
The South East Region Academy of Sport AFL component is sponsored
by the Queanbeyan Tigers. For more information on SERAS go to footy links
on this site.
Tigers U16s defeat Development squad
At a wet Margaret Donoghoe Oval, Queanbeyan on Sunday, 20th
February, a makeshift Tigers squad comprising of Under 16, Under 18 and
a few ring-in players (including three from Central West that
played with the Tigers to make up numbers, thanks guys) hosted a Central
West Under 16 development squad, in what has become an annual fixture.
The Tigers went into this match as underdogs (having not trained or played
together before in fact, many players had to be introduced to each
other) however after a few minutes of play looked anything but a makeshift
side. Importantly, the team played for four quarters and although their
is no benefit in being February premiers, won the gam by 48 points (71
to 23).
Assistant Coach of the Tigers U18s Scott Taylor was
delighted with the form of a number of his players, using the game to
have a look at new recruits and to get some important game time in preparation
for the coming season.
Under 16s Coach, Andrew Beer was similarly pleased with the performance
of his regular players, although the team is in real doubt of being in
the AFL Canberra Junior League competition this year unless some more
players are found very soon.
Best players (Queanbeyan) in a team effort: P Slater, J
Charman, D Nichols, L Robinson, T Winbank, S Donoghoe, M Beer, G Antonakis,
J Toone, C Budd, T Hunter, M Rutherford, J Ebert.
Our thanks to the Central West League for coming down for the game and
playing with such a good and sportsman-like spirit.
