The Queanbeyan Tigers v Wagga Tigers opening match of the AFL Canberra
season at the Margaret Donoghoe Sportsground drew a quality crowd
for what was to be a close match. Instead the home team paved the
way for the highest winning score to be posted in the short history
between the two clubs and in doing so, once again retain the ActewAGL
Cup.
The sponsored Dairy Farmers Challenge between the two NSW based
Clubs has seen the Queanbeyan Tigers hold onto the ActewAGL Cup
for the seventh time out of the eight encounters they have met with
their only loss being last season by five points at Wagga.
Marketing Managers of both companies Paul Walshe (ActewAGL) and
Rowan Johnson (Dairy Farmers) were both on hand to witness the game
and to present the Cup to Queanbeyan Tigers Coach Mark Armstrong
in a presentation held after the match in the confines of the Licenced
Club.
