HAROLD WILLIAMS
One
of the Queanbeyan Tigers oldest triple premiership players of the 1939,
1940 and 1941 teams is Harold Williams who played 213 1st Grade games
for the Tigers over a period of three decades.
Harold is one of five Williams Brothers of whom were outstanding sportsmen
in the Queanbeyan / Canberra Region playing and representing the district
successfully at AFL and Rugby league.
The Family is highly regarded as one of the most famous footballing families
in the district and with the exception of Bubby who was killed
in the Second World War, they all played in premiership teams with the
Tigers.
Harold Williams career spanned over three decades and not only included
the triple premiership teams but also being Captain of the 1953 Queanbeyan
Acton Premiership team at the age of 33. He was also a member of the 1952
Grand Final team.
Harold is a member of the Tigers 100 Club and is included in the Tigers
Wall of Fame along with other members of his family.
Recently, Harold was further recognised with inclusion in the Michael
Haddock Walk of Honour at the Tigers Margaret Donoghoe Sportsground as
one of 12 former or current players who have played 200 + 1st Grade games.
