CANCER SUPPORT GROUP FUNDRAISER
The Queanbeyan Tigers Club was host to a recent Sportsmans Dinner
in aid of the ACT Eden Monaro / Queanbeyan Cancer Support Group which
attracted over 100 people and raised approximately $15,000.

Chief Organiser of the function, Marketing Manager of ActewAGL
and TransACT - Paul Walshe, spoke highly of the function as
he welcomed many business houses from throughout the District to
the Club for the function.
Guest Speaker was Jason McCartney who gave an inspiration account
of his experience post the infamous Bali bombing in which approx
200 people lost their lives. Recovering from horrific burns suffered
during the deplorable incident, Jason recalled the heroics of many
survivors of the bombing including many of the local Balinese people
and in particular his great mate and former team mate at the North
Melbourne Kangaroos - Mick Martin.
It was particularly appropriate for the function to be held at
the Tigers Club considering their own burns victim Daniel Cuttiford
who suffered horrific burns to the lower part of his body earlier
this year in a school camping accident.

Estate Agent Col Maxwell providing his experience as an auctioneer ably

for continued support of this kind if the Support Group was to assist
the many families affected in some manner by a cancer sufferer.
