Tigers 100 Club 2005 Another Success
!
THREE times premiership coach and long-serving administrator, James Dore,
and triple premiership 200 game players, Chris Davis and David Hunter,
were inducted into the Tigers 'Wall of Fame' at the club's 24th annual
'100 Club' dinner held last Saturday. Queanbeyan's legendary Ron 'Chook'
Fowlie had the honour of inducting Dore, and praised him for his outstanding
coaching ability and many years of quality contribution as the Treasurer
of the Tigers licenced club.
Current Tigers senior coach Mark 'Merv' Armstrong inducted 'Bones' Davis
and 'Stumpy' Hunter and spoke in glowing terms of each player's tremendous
onfield performances over a period in excess of 12 years, particularly
mentioning their terrific loyalty to their beloved Tigers Club.
Dore, Davis and Hunter each received Life Membership of the Tigers club
as a result of their elevation to the elite 'Wall of Fame'. 1998 premiership
star and successful under age junior coach, Damian Kirkwood, was also
awarded Life Membership of the Tigers Club at the presentation dinner.
'Woody' was an integral part of the 1998 senior flag side and has since
forged a great reputation as a skilled junior mentor. He has coached three
under age premiership teams and led the Tigers under 18 grade to an undefeated
flag triumph in 2002. Jon Elias, Dennis Quade and Kane Cawse were admitted
to the '100 Club' at the dinner in recognition of playing 100 games for
the club.
All three are fine examples of loyalty to their much loved footy club.
Four times senior premiership player and current reserves coach, Michael
Goiser, also received an award to recognise his recent milestone of 300
club games. The '100 Club' dinner also incorporated the weekend reunion
of the Tigers 1985 senior and reserves premiership teams.
The majority of the players from these quality sides were at the football
on Saturday and then attended the '100 Club' function in the evening.
Brian Quade - 1985 senior coach, and Mark (Snapper) Briant - 1985 reserves
coach, each spoke at the dinner recalling the wonderful efforts of their
players on that day and the subsequent memorable celebrations.
In summary, the 2005 '100 Club' annual function was an unqualified success
in every respect, largely due to the tremendous organizational skills
of Ron 'Chook' Fowlie with assistance from his squad of helpers.
'Chook' was also the very capable MC at the dinner.
