Tigers appoint new Reserve Grade Coach
The
Tigers are pleased to announce the appointment of Jamie McGinley as the
Tigers Reserve Grade Coach for Season 2006.
Jamie has recently returned to Australia after service overseas with
the Armed Forces in Iraq and joins the Tigers after an impressive coaching
career which includes being the Assistant and Senior Grade Coach of Crib
Point and the Red Hill Football Clubs respectively of the Mornington Peninsula
Football League.
More recently he coached the Harman Football Club during the period of
2002 and 2003, taking the Hogg’s to the 2003 Grand Final.
In 2003, he was also the National Navy Representative Team Coach and
thereafter was selected to Coach the Australian Defence Force National
side against the Combined Emergency Services team on Anzac Day at the
SCG.
His enthusiastic personality is sure to be of great benefit to the Tigers
Organisation.
He will take over the Reserve Grade Coaching position from Michael Goiser
who after four years of Coaching the Reserves - which includes Grand Final
appearances in 2003 and 2004 - has decided to have a break from probably
one of the most frustrating coaching positions of any team in any Club.
After
playing over 300 Club games, Gois has also decided to hang up his boots
after 20 long years which included 243 1st Grade games – second
only to the Tigers legend Tony Wynd (347) , ACT Representation on numerous
occasions and being Captain of the 1998 and 1999 1st Grade Premiership
teams.
He was also a member of three other premiership teams being in 1988,
1989 and 2000.
He will not be lost to the Tigers Club, with Senior Grade Coach Mark
Armstrong sure to use his experience in some manner next year.
Jamie McGinley has been a prominent face at the Tigers unofficial training
on Tuesday nights and has expressed a strong desire to include other
appointments such as last years assistant coaches Robert Anderson and
Noel Sibly in all aspects of the team for Season 2006.
