TIGERS NEWS February 2006
Vale - Alan Muir

The Queanbeyan Tigers sadly announce the passing of one of nature's gentleman, Alan Muir.

Alan was the most incredible and respected person at the Queanbeyan Tigers Club - his involvement spanning over 60 Years. Full details of his history with our club can be gained by visiting our Wall of Fame page

The last photo of Alan ever taken was last Tuesday in his restaurant (the Alan Muir Room) at the Tigers Club. It was posted on this site (see following) just days before his untimely passing.

The Club has forwarded its deepest sympathies to his son Ian, daughters Alison and Susan and their respective families. Alan was part of if not the father of an extended Tigers Family.

Alan's funeral will take place on  Wednesday 8th February 2006 from 10:30am at St Andrews Presbyterian Church in Forrest ACT and thereafter at the Crematorium.

A wake will be held at the Tigers Club during that afternoon.

The Club would like our associates to wear a touch of black and gold if you are attending Alan's funeral. Obviously there will be a massive attendance due to his popularity.

We certainly will miss "our friend". He was a fantastic gentleman, adored by "all and sundry" and the greatest TIGER of all time.

As he would say "Up the Tigers - Eat em Alive".

Editors note: Members of the Muir family, Alan's many friends and former work colleagues and his extended Tigers Football Club family payed their last respects to Alan Muir at a moving service today, Wednesday 8th February 2006. Eulogies by Alan's son-in-law Malcolm Scholes and the Tigers own legends Ron 'Chook' Fowlie and Brian Quade spoke about Alan's love of life, his devotion toward his family and how he touched everyone that he came in contact with, and of course his love for the Queanbeyan Tigers. Back at the Tigers Club, at exactly 5.00pm a moving visual tribute to the achievements of this great man was played - Alan Muir may no longer be with us however his memory will never be forgotten.
