TIGERS NEWS June 2006
Bill Gadd
The Tigers Club have lost yet another of its former players.
Bill Gadd succumbed to a long illness early Monday morning.
Bill played 113 1st Grade matches for the Tigers during a highly successful
period with the Club – that being during the Queanbeyan / Acton
Combine years. He played in four grand finals for premierships in 1953,
1955 and 1956.
He was hugely popular amongst his team mates and within the club and
an outstanding ruckman for his size.
“Gaddy”
will be remembered by the Clubs most recent bunch of champions for his
attendance at the Tigers 100 Club Dinner(s). He along with the likes of
Ron Williams and Alan Muir were regular attendees at this function. Unfortunately
all three have left us this year along with 200 game player Harold Williams.
There is certainly a team of champions forming on the other side of life.
The Club will black arm bands against Weston Creek on Saturday
at Manuka Oval as a mark of respect to Bill Gadd.
Our sincere condolences to Imelda and family including current Assistant
Coach Ken Campbell and wife Sue who is Bills sister.
His funeral will take place on Monday 29 May 2006 from St Benedict’s
Church in Narrabundah at 11.00am for internment at the Queanbeyan Lawn
Cemetery. Refreshments at the Tigers Club from 1.30pm.
