Recently the Tigers Club have been informed of the careers of two of its former junior players achieving success in areas way outside the football arena.

Alister Grieson gained a Master of Arts Degree and has become an outstanding Film Director.

He graduated in Economics from the Australian National University before moving to Tokyo to study Japanese. He has since moved back to Australia, living and working in Sydney and has directed some 15 films including the recently released KOKODA .

Alister was a talented player who gained representative honours at junior level while his father Alan was a Sports Medicine Trainer with the Tigers Club and features in the 1986 Grand Final team photo.

Mike Smith – also a former Tigers Junior Player - is appearing in the play “The Prince of Brunswick East” now be performed at the Old Fitzroy Hotel Theatre in Woolloomooloo, Sydney.

The play is a comedy about a family with loyalties to Australian Rules Football in particular the Brunswick Bulldogs which is a fictional team likened to the Western Bulldogs. The script is very Australian, very funny and heartfelt at times as the son (being Mike Smith) tries to connect with his father through the footy club as they go through a difficult period of their life.

The play is currently running until June 3 with bookings available through www.oldfitzroy.com.au

A 2005 NIDA graduate, Mike has recently appeared in The Young Tycoons at Darlinghurst Theatre and in The Woman of the Desert. In his bio he described his playing days with the Queanbeyan Tigers and his passion for the game. Although living in Sydney he barracks for Carlton FC although admits a strong liking to the Swans as his second team.

He is soon to appear in Go Ponnocio for Kim Carpenters Theatre of Image and is to make his TV debut on All Saints shortly.
