All Australian Representatives

In recent weeks the Tigers Club have gained three All Australian Representatives.

Senior Grade player Danny Jaques gained his second All Australian Jumper when representing the AFL Canberra in the Australian Country Championships on the Gold Coast.

After joining the Tigers this season from Ainslie Football Club, our gentle giant has had a fantastic season for his new Club and is currently running second in the Canberra Times Player of the Year. Ironically the Player of the Year Award is being led by former Tigers Best and Fairest Bill Neely who joined the Ainslie camp during the off season after spending three years with Glenelg in the South Australian Football League.

Danny has previously gained an All Australian jumper at the Championships held in Bunbury, Western Australian two years ago. A former Mulrooney Medallist, his powerful play has won the admiration of all Queanbeyan supporters and officials and although the Tigers season has been disappointing in 2006, there is strong enthusiasm for 2007 especially with the likes of the following two young blokes developing their skills in the Tigers Under 18 Grade team.

Both Will Griggs and Jeremy Kirkwood won All Australian jumpers at the recently conducted Under 15 Schoolboy Championships held in Darwin. Will, the younger brother of Cambell and Luke . both of whom have played senior grade football with the Tigers had an outstanding carnival when representing the ACT Under 15 Schoolboys team.

Jeremy represented the NSW Under 15 Schoolboys team with his athletiscm being an eye catcher for many of the AFL scouts at the Carnival. Jeremy is the son of former premiership player Damian - who is also the current Tigers Under 18 Grade Coach. . Jezza. shows a fantastic ability to read the play and is one of the quickest youngsters in the State for his age.

The above mentioned players join an elite group of Tiger Players who have gained Australian Jumpers. Current Coach Mark Armstrong and former Captain Jason Gilbert gained Australian jumpers at the Country Championships in 1998. Former Premiership player Brett Wightman has also gained All Australian Schoolboy selection.

Brothers Tony and Tim Wynd gained All Australian selection during their respective representative days with the ACT at the National Under 17 Grade Teal Cup competition. Tony being one of the very few players outside the major AFL competitions to gain selection in the All Australian Team which toured Ireland and the USA. Youngster Todd Dickinson also gained All Australian selection in 2004 in the Under 15s Schoolboys Championships.

Current senior grade player Josh Davis also gained All Australian honours when representing NSW Schoolboys prior to joining the Tigers.
