Tigers Reserves go down in Grand Final

The Tigers Reserves premiership hopes were dashed at Manuka Oval today as they lost the big game by 21 points to Eastlake.

Whislt there was never much between the two sides all game, the Eastlake combination handled the last quarter pressure after holding a small three quarter time lead, to run out victors at the final siren. A large contingent of Queanbeyan supporters cheered on the team and applauded their effort after the game despite not gaining the precious silverware.

The big question is whether champion and AFL Canberra all time goalkicking record holder Michael Niesen will continue on next year. Niesen was visibly shattered after the game and no-one could ever question what the match meant to the champion player that has contributed so much to this football club and for so long entertained his many fans, as well as being a fantastic clubperson and role model for up and coming players. If the great man does play on next season, his on-field leadership will be very welcome at Tiger land!

Noel Sibley's full match report coming soon. Also see Friday's Queanbeyan Age for match reports.
