Tigers back on track

Only three short months since the end of the 2006 football season, the Queanbeyan Tigers have had their first training session in preparation for the 2007 season, on the banks of picturesque Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra.

This first training run by the lake has become a recent tradition with the Tigers, with a large number of old and new players participating in the run under the guidance of Senior Coach Mark Armstrong, Reserve Grade Coach Jamie McGinley and Specialist Coach and former AFL coach and footballer, Terry Wheeler.

Greeted by warm but not excessive conditions, many players showed that they have kept themself in shape during the off season, although several others looked like they had enjoyed being out to pasture! Watched on by a small army of club volunteers, the players enthusiastically participated with all keen to put the 2006 season behind them and focus on the task at hand in being the best prepared team in the competition and to bring the silverware back to Queanbeyan next September.

The Tigers have acquired several new high profile recruits who participated in their first training session with their new club. There has also been much behind the scenes work at the club with new football staff structure and the club addressing a number of strategic issues that are designed to ensure that Queanbeyan takes its rightful place as a dominant club in the AFL Canberra competition - if the enthusiasm shown by all players and officials at this first training session is a guide, the club is well on the way.
