Footy a Family Business at the Tigers Club.

The Queanbeyan Tigers Football Club prides itself on being many things – professional, respected and successful to name just a few. But one thing of which many people are probably not aware is the family atmosphere that is promoted at the Club. We have many family connections between the Junior and Senior Clubs that show that footy really is a family business at Queanbeyan.

Here is a list of Juniors playing football this year and their connection with the Senior Club:

• Aidan Bowyer – Father Ian played 128 1st Grade matches for the Club.

• Reed & Logan Stevens – Father George played 200 1st Grade matches for the Club and is a member of the Tigers Wall of Fame.

• Jackson Monck – Father David was a member of the 1984 Under 19 Premiership team.

• Allan & Justen Caldwell – Father Greg is an Associate Member of the Tigers 100 Club, also picking up the 1988 and 1990 Under 19 Grade Best and Fairest

• Jordan Hedington – Father Jarrod played with the Club in the 90’s while also playing Rugby League.

• Bella Hunter – Brother Tom is a current member of the Under 18 Grade team and picked up the Most Determined Award in 2005 (see picture below).

• Mark & Dean Solway – Father Peter played for the Queanbeyan Tigers during the 80’s and 90’s while also playing at a high level of cricket in the ‘off’ season.

• Phillip Maher – Brother Danny is a current member of the Queanbeyan Tigers Under 18 Grade team and is currently one of the top goals scorers in the competition. 

• Sam Jensen – Father Peter is a current junior coach, having coached the Reserve grade team during the 90’s. He is also the current 1st Grade coach of Queanbeyan affiliate Goulburn Swans.

• Rhys Ebert – Brothers Shaun & Josh both current members of senior squads, Shaun being a member of the Under 18 Grade and Josh the Reserve Grade. 

• Robbie Schelberger – Father Robin played 200 Club matches for the Tigers and is a member of the Wall of Fame.

• Sam Daniel – Father Doug played Junior football with Queanbeyan and went on to play a total of 238 1st Grade matches for the Queanbeyan Tigers. He is a member of the Tigers Wall of Fame. Doug is the current coach of the Under 16 team, having coached the team to a Premiership last year. 

• Darren Beer – Brother Michael is a current playing member of the Queanbeyan Tigers Reserve Grade team, having played in the Under 18 Grade and junior football for the Tigers in previous years. Father Andrew is a current Junior coach and our Junior Vice President.

• Jeremy Kirkwood – Father Damian is the current Under 18 coach and played senior football for the Tigers in the late 90’s. He was a member of the 1998 1st Grade Premiership team , and has been coach of the Under 18 Grade since 2000. As if this wasn’t enough, he was also the coach of the current Under 16 team during their first three Premiership years.
