Winter certainly arrived last weekend and with games from one end of town to the other the Tigers were stretched with many volunteers absent for varying reasons. Thank you to all those who assisted on Saturday especially those traveling between grounds making sure everything ran accordingly.
Four wins from five games with wins to the Men’s 1st Grade, Reserve Grade, Under 18 Rising Stars and Tigerettes 1st Grade. The Tigerettes Reserve Grade were well defeated by Belconnen.

Under 18 Grade Rising Stars
Once again, the Tigers fielded a youthful Under 18 Grade team and although fairly dominate throughout, inaccuracy in front of the big sticks nearly robbed them of a win. Posting 10 behinds in the first quarter they struggled throughout the rest of the game with Marist taking the lead with a strong wind in the final few minutes only to see the Tigers post an unexpected last-minute goal to steal victory on the siren. The game played at Marist certainly favored the students by way of support and home ground advantage.Marist 1.0 3.0 4.0 7.4 46Queanbeyan 0.10 3.11 4.15 6.15-51

Tigerettes 1st Grade.
Playing at the same time as the Under 18 Grade but at Gunghalin, the Tigerettes 1st Grade proved too strong for their opponents in a replay of last year’s Grand Final. The Tigerettes dominated from the outset and ran out comfortable winners.Gungahlin 1.1 1.1 1.2 1.2-8Queanbeyan 1.2 2.4 6.7 8.8-56

Tigers Men’s Reserve Grade
The Reserve Grade encounter played at Gunghalin, with the Tigers and were far too strong in unpleasant conditions on Saturday afternoon. The Jets were short on numbers and accordingly both teams played with 16 afield. Great to see Paul Slater returning to the paddock even though briefly and youngster Anthony LoPilato returning after surgery during the off season.Gungahlin 1.0 2.0 2.0 2.0-12Queanbeyan 6.2 9.4 16.8 22.10-142

Tigers 1st Grade.
The Jets would receive 7 Canberra Demon players for this encounter and were very impressive under new Coach John Love. Having struggled over the past few years, they were competitive throughout the day and have certainly improved from past performances. The Jets have a bright and rewarding future if they can build a strong supporter and player base.Gungahlin 2.1 4.2 5.4 7.6-48Queanbeyan 5.2 10.3 12.5 16.10-106
