Our dual premiership-winning Tigerettes have fallen just short in their goal of being elevated to Division One of the AFL Canberra Women’s competition for 2015.
But there is a silver lining!
With ten teams participating in the Women’s competition this year, all clubs have now played each once. Based on ladder position at the end of the most recent round, the top five teams will complete the year as Division One while the remaining clubs will battle it out as Division Two.
The Tigerettes had a couple of good wins over ‘Div 1’ sides in their opening rounds but have come up just short of making the top five, ending up in sixth place on the ladder after Round 9.
This means that with the competition now splitting into two divisions for the rest of the year, our Tigerettes sit on top of Division Two.
The girls have won back-to-back premierships in Division Two, and although disappointed at not achieving the aim of making it to Division One this year, they can now set their sights on making it a three-peat of premierships.
The Women’s competition goes into a bye this weekend while the finer details of the draw for the remainder of the season are finalised. They’ll be back on the park on 18-19 July when the new draw is released.
Good luck girls!
