Tigers on Top of the World

Two of our Tiger players have experienced some of the highest peaks in the world.

NEAFL Premiership player Roy Jaques and one of the Tigers up and coming young stars Jason Taylor ventured to the slopes of Mt Everest on a school excursion in the later part of 2012.

Roy is a school teacher at Daramalan College while Jason is a student.

They travelled to Nepal and trekked the slopes for 30 days with one of the highlights being a 3 day community project to an area were the locals had not experienced “westerners” for 7 years.

This including trekking to the Everest Base Camp at 5300m and Kala Platter at 5600m at minus 20 Celsius. Both enjoyed the experienced.

As can be seen by the pics they made sure the Queanbeyan Tigers brand became well known in some of the most remote and beautiful places in the world.

Although Roy has announced his retirement after playing over 100 1st Grade games for the Club we are sure to see his about the place as he mentors some of our young players throughout 2013.

This includes his travelling partner Jason of whom the Club has high expectations of developing into yet another highly skilled youngster in the Tigers NEAFL teams of the future.
