Aspley Travel to the Tiger Den

Brisbane suburban team Aspley Hornets travel to Dairy Farmers Park this Saturday for their cross conference game against the Tigers.   The game will commence at 11.45am on Saturday with the curtain raiser match being the Tigerettes first game of the year against ANU at 9.15am.

Aspley have been the big improvers of the NEAFL Northern Conference competition and will include two former AFL Canberra competition players in Nathan Clarke and Jason Satchell.

Clarke joined the Hornets this year after successfully coaching the Brisbane Lions to the NEAFL Northern Conference Premiership last year subsequently winning the NEAFL Conference grand final against the Tigers at Manuka Oval.  He is familiar with DFP as a former playing coach of Eastlake.

Closer to home is that of Jason Satchell – a 73 first grade game player with the Tigers.  He moved to Brisbane at the end of 2011 and joined the Hornets last year.  His return to the Tigers Den is welcomed even though playing with opposition.  ‘Satch” is highly respected in our organisation and without doubt one of the most popular young players when donning the black and gold.

Another player to watch from the Hornets will be Cheymee  Stiller – who also played in the Brisbane Lions Reserves premiership 2012 team.

Kaine Stevens passes the 50th  1st Grade game milestone this Saturday.

The Tigers welcome back Todd Dickinson, Mitch Heaslip and Jarrod Atkinson into the NEAFL squad but will miss Beau Walker for a lengthy period as he recovers from a serious ankle injury suffered last week.

The Tigers Division 1 team will play Ainslie at 2.30pm on Saturday as the main game of the day with the Rising Stars also playing Ainslie but this game is on Sunday at Ainslie Oval at 9.30am.
