Belconnen finish strong to keep the Tigers at Bay!

It was another cold day last Saturday when the Tigers headed north to take on the Magpies at the nest!

The day didn’t start well when the Rising Stars clash was postponed due to an unsafe field, this match will now be rescheduled for a midweek clash with time, day and venue to be confirmed soon.

While results didn’t go the way of most of our teams we are still in the hunt for a good finish in most grades with positive results in the coming weeks to hopefully position the squads in good stead come finals.

All ladders and other results can be found on this link – http://aflcanberra.com.au/fixtures-results/

Women’s Div 2

For the second week in a row our Super two’s women’s team showed they are not far away from another big win. The last two weeks they have pushed two of the top 3 teams all the way and despite not getting over the line the girls are showing if and when they break through they will be a force in the Division 2 competition.

The Super two’s men’s team have taken another top 4 scalp and are now powering towards the finals full of confidence. Another huge turnover of players this week wasn’t enough to upset the boys as they gelled quickly and did the damage before half time. Alba is controlling the group beautifully despite the changes every week has the the guys improving every week.

Women’s Div 1

The last time these two teams played the magpies were unstoppable in the first half and set up an unassailable lead. Fast forward to last Saturday and

it’s a different tigers that are building towards the finals. They may not have gotten the chocolates, however the girls certainly showed that the improvement and belief is building.

Another test of this improvement will be on show this coming Saturday when the Tigerettes face 2nd placed Eastlake.

First Grade

It was a case of one that got away for the seniors as they controlled the game all the way to the last quarter when the magpies stepped up and took the result.

Again like our other grades the team is still building in a positive fashion and no doubt the wins will come, the belief Coach Corcoran is putting into the group shows this squad is good enough and if they continue to work hard then look at the rest of the comp!
