We are proud to announce our Partnership with CrossFit Queanbeyan in a our quest to become the strongest, fittest and most athletic club in the AFL Canberra competition.
CrossFit Queanbeyan is a family owned and local business. Owner Kane Cawse is a former player of the club and a member of the Tigers Playing Associate 100 Club with over 120 club games. He played all of his junior football at the Tigers of which his parents Ian a Judy were on the junior board for several years. His eldest son Caleb has also played all his junior football at the club and is now preparing to move into the rising stars.
“CrossFit is the main strength and conditioning program of the American elite forces, including Navy SEALs, Green Beret, Delta Force and firefighters It’s results have been remarkable and has now become popular with NFL teams and MMA fighters, to help with their Speed, Power and General Physical Preparedness (GPP)” Kane said
“The ability to move large loads, long distances, quickly and safely is the building block to gaining power (Speed/strength/force), outside of the ability to play the game in question, this is possibly the single most important aspect of fitness a top level athlete requires. Contrary to uneducated beliefs, CrossFit is not all about Cardiovascular Endurance, this is only one small part of the program, strength, flexibility, balance, muscular endurance, stamina and accuracy are all fitness modalities that are focused on.”
“The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect application for any committed individual, regardless of experience. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change the program. The needs of a first grade footballer and his/her wife/husband differ by degree, not kind. Meaning that no matter what your fitness level is CrossFit can be enjoyed by everyone from those who wish to excel in their current sport, take their fitness to the next lever or just want to move and be better at life.” he added
The Tigers are thrilled to have Crossfit on board and look forward to a rewarding and healthy relationship.
