GWS awaits Tiger Visit!

Tigers Take On GWS GIANTS

The Tigers will travel to Sydney on Friday Night in preparation for their NEAFL Round 7 clash against the GWS Giants. The game will be played on Saturday afternoon from 2.00pm at Blacktown Olympic Park and will be broadcast live by QBN FM 96.7.

Other matches over the weekend include our Under 18 and Reserve Grade teams taking on Gungahlin Jets at Manuka Oval at 12 noon and 2.15pm respectively while our Ladies team have their first home match of the season at the Queanbeyan Park against ADFA on Sunday at 10.00am.

The NEAFL match against the Giants is the only match the Tigers will play against the fledgling AFL Club in 2011.

The Tigers will leave their home base of Dairy Farmers Park at 5.00pm on Friday and travel by bus to Eastern Creek.

After the first 6 rounds of the NEAFL Eastern Conference, the Tigers are in third position on the ladder ahead of the Giants on percentage.

The Giants have comfortably defeated last years AFL Canberra Premiers Ainslie and the ever improving Tuggeranong this year and lost to Sydney Swans Reserves and Brisbane Lions Reserves.

While the Tigers have been “all over the shop” in recent weeks they have shown enough form and determination to worry the new Sydney based team.

The Tigers unleash new recruit Travis Bull for his first game with the organisation. His height and strength will be an added bonus to the team and a strong backup to current first ruck Mitch Heaslip. “The Shed” has been doing a superb job against much taller opposition. “Bullie” has been training with the club since February but due to family and work commitments has only just become available for selection. He has been rushed into the team to counter some of the taller GWS players.

Unfortunately three youngsters will miss the weekend through injury / illness. Kaine Stevens has been in great form this year and would have relished playing against his 2010 club but illness will prevent him travelling. Both Jeremy Kirkwood and Alex Overs also miss through illness and injury respectively.

Canberra based GWS Members attending the game who have not collected their merchandise pack as part of their membership can do so from the GWS Merchandise tent at the ground.
