Kirkwood to become 88th member of 100 Club

Early last month Jeremy Kirkwood reached the 100 club games milestone for the Tigers, which is a combination of First Grade and Second Grade career games.

This weekend Jeremy becomes the 88th full member of our prestigious 100 Club when he takes the field in a cut throat semi final against Eastlake.

The stars seemed to have aligned for Jeremy’s milestone. He gets to celebrate it on his home ground, a ground he grew up running around while his father Damian played and coached senior football at the Tigers.

Many who were around back in Jeremy’s younger days remember a skinny little kid with plenty of pace who spent senior training nights working quietly on his skills and messing around with a footy – as kids love to do at that age.

Jeremy played his first senior games for the Tigers in 2007. He’s overcome a few injuries in his career (one involving a motorbike accident) that have delayed the milestone a little.

He also spent a couple of years away from the Tigers pursuing NEAFL level football with Eastlake.

While at Eastlake Jeremy played his hundredth senior game which included NEAFL games with Eastlake.

But even his comments in an article about that achievement always hinted to him coming back to Queanbeyan where his fondest memories were.

When asked about the highlight of his 100 games, Kirkwood couldn’t go past the 2012 NEAFL premiership he won with the Tigers.

“2012 was just a great, well-rounded season and to cap it off with a premiership with a great bunch of blokes was something I’ll never forget,” he said.

Coincidentally, Eastlake will also be a part of Jeremy’s latest milestone as they will be the opponent this weekend.
