Multiple Players Join Tigers Ranks for 2019

The Tigers have had a great off season with a host of players joining the club for the 2019 AFL Canberra Season.

Ella Ross returns in 2019

On the back of securing the majority of the highly successful Under 18s squad from this season as well as securing the bulk of the 2018 senior squad,

the tigers recruiting committee have also added some high quality players to the list. Plans for the Division 3 team has also gained momentum with the addition of these players.

In the female space, the club welcomes back 2017 1st Grade Premiership Players Ella Ross, Ash Jakim and Jenna Williams as well as up to 12 new players including Melbourne Uni VAFA Premiership player Ruby Grounds and Southern Eastern Women’s Players Shannon Evans and Belinda Ward.

Lachie Highfield

The Tigers female program has gone from strength to strength with over 60 players (new and experienced) from Youth Girls to Opens registering for the Hannah Dunn Academy which commences tonight!

The men have been bolstered by the big inclusions of the following players:

Lachie Highfield – North Wagga (Midfield)

We’ve got our man! Is what new Head Coach Adrian Pavese said when Highfield agreed to terms last week. Lachie has spent the last 3 years with the Farrer League club winning the club’s Best & Fairest and featuring in their tilt at the Premiership this season. He has taken his game to another level in recent years with his no nonsense approach to the footy and has become a highly sort after player in two leagues. Lachie is a key midfield player and but also has plenty of experience across half back.

Campbell Lovell – Wagga Tigers (Half Back)

Campbell Lovell

Campbell was another major player targeted by the club and is terrific acquisition to the club along with Highfield. Pavese coached against Lovell when he was at Griffith and rates Lovell extremely highly. Lovell despite only being 22 comes to the tigers with a terrific resume which includes a Senior Best & Fairest with Wagga 2017, Premiership Player in 2016 and multiple appearances with the AFL Riverina Rep side. Added to this, Lovell has also played with the GWS Giants NEAFL team. Lovell can play small & tall in defense and will be pushed through the midfield as well.

Jayden Cutts – Upper Ferntree Gully (Forward)

We were thrilled when Jayden moved to Queanbeyan at the end of this season and has chosen to play for the Tigers in 2019. A quality forward from the Eastern Football League who kicked 44 goals in 2018. Jayden comes to the tigers with plenty of experience and at 26 years of age helps the club with that mid aged player we can assist with the development of the younger group.

Oliver Hicks – Marist (Forward)

Ollie continues the great track record the club has of securing players from Marist as these players look to the Tigers to start their senior careers. Hicks has been a regular in the Giants Academy over the past 3 years and is a 2017 Rising Stars Premiership Player with Marist. He was named in the Future Stars Team of the Year in 2018 and is highly regarded as the best CHF coming through the grade.

Harry Peers – Balmain (Forward)

James Huntley – Rugby League (Raiders Cup 1st Grade Player)

Jackson Monck – Returning

Clifford Taylor – Returning

Jackson Smith – Returning
