Round 2 – Tigers Take On Newcomers Hills Eagles


New Tigers Recruit Matthew Beckmans will debut in the Tigers NEAFL Team this week.


The Tigers NEAFL combination has its first road trip for the 2012 season when they travel down the Hume Highway to Sydney to take on newcomers Sydney Hills Eagles on Saturday at Bruce Purser Oval commencing at 2.00pm.

The Eagles have won the AFL Sydney premiership for the past three seasons and have been admitted to the Eastern Conference of the NEAFL competition for 2012.

They won their first round encounter last Saturday against the University team and now come up against an inform Tigers combination that demolished Tuggeranong Hawks last Sunday at Dairy Farmers Park.

Both clubs have an array of young talent in their respective teams along with ex AFL players in Jarrod Atkinson (Essendon) now Queanbeyan Tigers and Ryan Houlihan (Carlton) now Sydney Hills.

Queanbeyan could be missing a few players from last week side due to injury along with Josh Bryce who has received a week suspension compliments of the match review committee after and incident in the first quarter of last weeks match.

Sam Jensen is available this week after completing GWS Academy duties with the possibility of former Sydney Swans Reserves player Matt Beckmans being named for his first NEAFL match after joining the Tigers last week.

The Tigers Rising Star and AFL Canberra Division 1 teams play Belconnen Magpies on Sunday at Dairy Farmers Park at 9.30am and 11.30am respectively to complete the Clubs commitments for Round 2.

The Tigers NEAFL team has the bye the following weekend during Easter but the other two grades play on Easter Saturday at Amaroo at 11.30am and 2.15pm respectively.
