Senior Club Presentation Night – Tony Wynd Medal win to Toby Conroy!

MC for the evening was Vice Chairman Joel Feuerherdt. The evening commenced with the Ladies team awards, followed by the Under 18 Grade, Special Awards, Reserve Grade, 1st Grade and then a tribute to outgoing Coach Mark Armstrong.

New Coach Rod O’Riley spoke in glowing terms of the Club he first joined in 1994 before having stints at both Richmond Tigers and Brisbane Lions. He rejoins the organisation full of confidence and announced further coaching appointments for 2011 of which will be released during the week.

A special tribute to outgoing Coach Mark Armstrong included a DVD presentation prepared by Clint Coddy. This wonderful tribute provided highlights of his playing career mixed with the emotion of winning games, being around his family (at home and at the footy) and most importantly his involvement with this organisation spanning 18 years.

Captain Ryan Quade and senior grade player Neil Irwin provide “Merv” with a gift from the players .

During the evening the Club announced the Armstrong / Niesen Medal to be presented to the 1st Grade leading goal kicker each year. The Medal introduced to recognise the Clubs two highest ever goal kickers in its 85 year history in Mark Armstrong (796 goals) and Michael Niesen ( 593 gaols). They are also the highest goal kickers in the history of AFL Canberra.
