Tigers seek Reserve Grade Coach for 2017

Trent Cartwright, Jeremy Macdonald, Jake Evans and Sam Adams in Reserve Grade action during 2016.

With the elevation of Dave Corcoran to Senior Coach for 2017, the Tigers are now seeking a new Reserve Grade coach.

The position provides an exciting opportunity to continue the development of a group of talented young players graduating from the 2016 Rising Stars (U18s) into senior football as well as be involved with a core group of dedicated senior players working toward First Grade opportunities.

Just like the First Grade team, the Tigers Reserves have a recent history of success, winning the 2014 premiership when competing in the AFL Canberra First Division competition (Note – the Tigers First Grade competed in the NEAFL competition in that year).

Many of the 2014 Premiership team are now key members of the current First Grade squad, while the Reserves have continued to play finals football in 2015 and 2016.

We are seeking a coach who can work with the Senior Coaching panel to develop players for First Grade, as well as work with the Rising Stars coaching panel to provide development opportunities and a pathway for young players within our Club.

The Tigers Reserve Grade coach also has a key role in fostering the relationship between the Tigers and affiliate clubs Googong Hogs and Southern Cats who field teams in AFL Canberra Division 3 and 4 grades.  These long standing affiliations allow for the flow of players between the various grades.

Ideally our new Reserve Grade coach would have previous coaching experience and current qualifications (Level 1 or higher), or be willing to obtain Level 1. However, the Club has a number of experienced coaches in a position to mentor and assist a suitable first time coach.

Applicants will be assessed against the following criteria:

  1. Leadership

  2. Technical Ability

  3. Passion

  4. Communication

  5. Teaching Ability

The position offers a modest remuneration to assist with expenses. We are open to applications from a playing or non-playing coach, including someone with the ability to play First Grade while coaching Reserve Grade.

Applications outlining experience, coaching philosophy and touching on each of the above criteria can be directed to: General Manager Football Operations Queanbeyan Tigers Australian Football Club Email: general.manager@tigersclub.com.au

or mailed to:

General Manager Football Operations Queanbeyan Tigers Australian Football Club PO Box 344 Queanbeyan NSW 2620

Applications will remain open until early in pre-season training which will commence on Tuesday, 24 January 2017.

For further information about the position please phone 6299 3467 or 0409 365 667
