Scotty – a Finalist in the 2018 SCA Champions Dinner
The Tigers gained one of the best recruits ever during 2013, when the then Coach Kade Klemke introduced a chap by the name of Scotty Minchin.
From that day on Scotty became heavily involved as a senior grade runner and in the day to day operations and management of people within the organisations.
So much so he was appointed the Clubs Chaplain and has since been elected onto the Tigers Board of Management.
His skills of people management in all walks of life has certainly guided the club over the past four years with his position as a Chaplain in the Defence Force and his ongoing community values being passed onto those in the Club.
In addition to organizing some outstanding speakers over the last four years to address the Tigers playing group on leadership qualities, he was chiefly responsible for a group of club volunteers and players traveling to the Solomon Islands last October to assist the local community with the construction of water tanks and school based projects over a period of 10 days.
Just recently he was a finalist in the 2018 SCA Champions – a function recognizing the outstanding efforts of chaplaincy in Australia through sporting and community groups. He was one of four finalists introduced at a gala function attended by over 400 people at the MCG in the members dining room.
Although not taking out the major award, we can be extremely proud to have such a wonderful ambassador representing the Tigers and being able to assist our players, volunteers and associate when the time requires.
