Message from the Chairman

On behalf of the Board of Management.

Unfortunately, AFL Canberra have announced the cancellation of the 2021 season for all competitions.

ACT Government and NSW State Government cannot give any assurance of opening their respective governed areas in the foreseeable future hence a decision to exit.

The intervening COVID pandemic and cross border complications prevent the season reaching an end to what would have been an exciting finals series for the entire club. Throughout Victoria competitions have reached similar conclusions including the strong Ovens and Murray League on the NSW / Victorian border.

Whilst certain regional areas in NSW have opened restrictions remain in force for team sports.

Thank you for the enormous effort everyone has provided this year. It was certainly a long preseason with a late start to the competition(s) and now an early exit with no result. I know what we feel like as a Board after so much effort - but it pales into insignificance in comparison to the enormous amount of time, energy, dedication, and loyalty by every single player and volunteer this year.

Circumstances have taken everything great about footy away. Socialising, being part of something special, friendships and learning to compete with respect has been missed in recent weeks but if there’s one thing that can be taken from this early exit is that we have unfinished business to attend come Season 2022 and I hope that everyone can be part of this great club again once this pandemic is under some type of control.

On behalf of the Board of Management and in particular our General Manager Adrian Pavese (who has carried the club through the past two years during COVID) may I personally thank each one of you.

Success is usually gauged by winning premierships but while we strive for the ultimate prize, we are also a proud club when it comes to participation levels, presentation of the organisation, its competitiveness, and the accolades that players and officials achieve over and above premierships.

It is for this reason 2021 has been enormously successful with many players achieving success at higher levels throughout the country and from within with milestone recognitions. Congratulations to all.

To our wonderful coaching staff, the many volunteers, our players, supporters and most importantly our Partners and Members who have provided financial contributions to enable us to continue during these difficult times, thank you for allowing us to provide Queanbeyan with a fantastic community football club.

· We look forward to next season. Confirmation of coaches will be made soon, along with new and existing signings through both our Men’s and Women’s programs.

· We look forward to the outstanding talent we have in our Under 18 Rising Stars both Men’s and Women.

· We look forward to the National Draft for some of our exciting youngsters.

The hardships encountered this year will build the foundation for the continuation of your club for 2022 and well into the future.

· Just three years to go until we celebrate 100 Years of Footy.

Wouldn’t it be fantastic for each of you to be part of a very special occasion?

For those not continuing next year, again thankyou for your efforts and I wish you success in any new endeavours.

Dear Valued Members,

We hope everyone is staying safe and well. Just a quick note for our NRL and AFL tippers, as we're currently shut you'll need to enter your tips on the SportsPick website. Simply go to sportspick.com.au - As we do not use Sportspick cards at the club, you need a Sportspick ID. You can get this as an SMS from the SP website. Click on the yellow register button to get your Sportspick ID sent by SMS. If you cannot tip online, you can email your tips to comps@sportspick.com.au (include your name and venue).

Stay safe and good luck!

The Friendly Tigers Team
