Last Saturday a host of Tigers headed down to HOME in Queanbeyan to lend a couple of hours for their

On a cold morning there were many tasks to be completed but that didn’t deter the Tiger Army as they completed gardening, cleaning, rubbish removal and odd jobs for the wonderful staff and patrons of HOME.

The Tigers and HOME in QBN have had a long standing relationship dating back to former Tigers General Manager & current Chairman Ron Fowlie who was heavily involved in establishing the organisation.

It was also great to apart of the team with the Queanbeyan Whites & Rotary also on hand to help throughout the morning.

Going into the Tigerettes 3rd season (2012) since being established, the club knew it had to attract a big

name in the AFL Canberra Women’s space to keep the women’s program driving forward.

Enter ACT Women’s Representative Captain Melissa Hurley!

Having finished well down the ladder in it’s first two seasons, never in the Tigerettes wildest dreams would they have thought a player such as Hurley would join the club.

And aren’t we truly blessed she took a chance and came across the boarder!

Melissa started with ANU way back in 2007 and then moved to Ainslie in 2008. At the end of the 2011 season, the current ACT rep Captain was approached by then Tigers Football Manager and ACT Women’s Rep Coach Adrian Pavese to join the young tigerettes for the 2012 to help the team with it’s development and the rest is history.

She won the Jill Bright Medal B&F in her 1st season at the club.

On Saturday vs. Woden, Hurley will reach the magical milestone of 150 AFL Canberra Games, a feat that

should be highly recognised as Hurls has missed 3 seasons to have her beautiful daughters Indigo (2013), Arnica (2015), & Sienna (2017).

All three girls are now starting their own football careers participating in the Tigers Auskick under the watchful eye of Hurley and husband Dean.

From everyone at your Tigers Family, we congratulate Hurls on a wonderful achievement and we look forward to many more years of having Dean, Indigo, Arnica, Sienna and Melissa at Tigerland.

If standards, desire, want and passion had one name it would be Carly Res!

Premiership skipper Carly

The lovable Res will become the 93rd Player and only the 4th Tigerette to be inducted into the prestigious 100 Club when she runs out against Tuggeranong this weekend.

Carly joined the Tigers following a highly successful Netball career way back in 2012 and even after an injury riddled 2013 she wouldn’t be denied the opportunity to press towards this magical milestone.

Her love for the club is undeniable with Carly not only the current captain, she has also served as club secretary since 2017.

She now joins fellow Tigerettes Hannah Dunn (134), Lani Watson (133) and Kristen Argent (nee Turner) (122) into the 100 Club.

Carly continues to set the standards within the Women’s Program with her natural leadership that helps not only the new players to the club and graduating Youth Girls but also her more experienced peers!

Congratulations Carly from all within the Tigers Family.
