2019 Tigers 100 Club & Reunions Night of Nights!

Close on 200 people attended the Tigers 38th Annual 100 Club gathering at the Tigers Licensed Club last Saturday evening.

Celebrating the 1st Grade Premiership Reunions of 1939, 1989 and 1999 plus the Reserve Grade Premierships of 1989 and 2009, the Club was in full swing to celebrate the Tigerettes Reserve Grade team entering their Grand Final after defeating Riverina Lions during the day and that of the Minor Premiership gained by the Tigerettes 1st Grade team.

The evening commenced under the astute guidance of Wall of Fame Member and 1989 Reserve Grade Premiership player Paul Walshe as Master of Ceremonies. Three Associate Members were inducted being Treasurer Greg George, Physiotherapist Danny Rutten and QBN FM 96.7 Presenter Peter Newham.

Long time Licensed Club Board Member and former General Manager of the Queanbeyan City Council Hugh Percy was presented with Life Membership of the Tigers Licensed Club.

Members of the respective premiership teams in attendance were introduced to those attending the 100 Club Function. It was pleasing to note that 16 members of both the 1989 and 1999 1st Grade Premiership teams were in attendance along with many Officials and Coaches of the day including Brian Quade and James Dore.

The highlight of the evening is always the induction of new 100 game members and on this occasion former Captain Andrew Swan and current senior grade player Paul Slater were both inducted and acknowledged as playing their respe

ctive 100 1st Grade games in 2019.

The final acknowledgement of the night was the elevation of Chairman Ron ‘Chook’ Fowlie from Wall of Fame status to LEGEND #3 of the organisation.

In attendance along with former premiership players were a number of current day volunteers which have had an involvement since the early to mid-seventies including the likes of Wally Gisik, Col Imrie, Wally Thompson, Noel Miller, Steve Wightman, Gary Bullivant and Ron Fowlie along with Geoff Gosling and Alan McDonald traveling from interstate – both being heavily involved in those days with the acquirement of a Liquor License and  subsequent building of the Tigers Licensed Club.

An original Tigerette was in attendance, Berris Crossin played in the Tigerettes 1976 team and has supplied the footy club with some historic photos from those days including a team photo of the 76 team that won the premiership. Also, in attendance was one of the Clubs favorite Premiership players in Butch Hemming who was a participant of the famous 1985 1st Grade Premiership title.

It truly was a fantastic occasion. Full credit to those who assisted with the organisation during the day and evening and in the lead up to the event. Thank you to all those who traveled and thanks Walshie and Pav for all your efforts.
