2019 Women’s 1st Grade Grand Final Preview!

It’s a time of year we all work towards and there is only a select few teams that get that chance to be on show on the best day of the season – “GRAND

FINAL DAY”

Our Women’s 1st Grade side are making a habit of getting to this stage qualifying for their 3rd straight Grand Final and hoping to add a second flag in three years to their already impressive premiership collection. The team has been outstanding all season only having one loss in 16 games but it’s been the way they have gone about their footy in 2019 that should hold them in good stead leading into the big day.

The depth of the Tigers Women’s program has been outstanding with the Reserves playing in last weeks Grand Final, the 1st Grade play Saturday and the Tigers U18s Youth Girls a week later. This is a wonderful reflection of the Coaches, Support staff, players and most importantly our Women’s Corporate {Partners that have contributed so much to the girls in 2019.

A huge thanks to Aulich, Sleep Doctor Fyshwick & Batemans Bay and Walmsley Building Solutions for their continued belief and support of of Female Programs.

Regardless of Saturday’s result the Tigers Women’s program will continue to go from strength to strength and we are super proud of you all, congratulations on an outstanding season and enjoy Saturday – “It’s Tiger Time”.

Players to Watch!

Ella Ross – One of the Tigerettes most consistent performers in 2019 following her return from Richmond VFLW in 2018, Ella’s attack on the footy as well as her excellent skill level will mean she will be a major player in this Saturday’s decider. Added to this is her huge endurance engine that see’s her at contest after contest, if the Tigerettes get the win there is no doubt Ella will be in the best!

Kate Woodward – This first year player has been nothing short of sensational having played 15 games in her debut season and doing it all in the ruck. Kate’s ability to give the Tigerettes midfield first use has provided the platform for the girls kicking winning scores as well as her intercept marking around the ground on transition. For the tigers to gain the upper hand in this big game, Kate will once again be the driver from the midfield.

Carly Res – The Captain has led from the front all year and will again look to guide the team forward in this blockbuster. Ressies endurance and hardness has given the team more opportunities to drive from defense and allows others to impact in their areas. Carly is a no frills player who just gets it done and her leadership is unquestionable as she guides the Tigers into their 3rd Grand Final in as many years.

Prediction –

Both teams go in full strength and are at the top of their game which means this could be the match of the day. Belconnen have proven they can easily match it with the Tigers and this was evident in their last two encounters, the pies midfield will give their star studded forward line every chance to kick a winning score.

The tigers are also blessed in the Midfield and Forward stocks with the likes of the above players as well as Dunn, Stramandinoli, Hamilton’s and Parry being at the top of their games right now. So it looks like it will come down to defense and who can stem the flow of the opposition, this is probably where the Tigers have the slight edge.

Evans, Dwyer and Tupper are all solid but explosive defenders that can easily turn defense into attack which should give the Tigers midfield more of the footy. This will be a belter of a clash and one for the ages – Tigers by 10pts
