ADFA no match for Tigerettes!

The Tigerettes held their opposition scoreless for the first time as ADFA flooded their backline and defended grimly to keep the score from completely blowing out in wet conditions at ADFA.

Goals were very hard to come by and it took a check-side from the boundary line from Lani Watson after great hands from Kristen Turner to break the ice. Hannah Dunn, enjoying a break from the ruck role, kicked the second after nice lead up play from Roni Jordan and Tracey Mosely. The three highlights in an otherwise dour second term was Jane Vucago goal after crumbing her own ruck work, Sarah Van Meurs efforts on a wing and the unbelievable attack on the footy from Karen Collard.

The third term played out like the first half with Bobbie Minniecon, Shay Thomas and Pip Butt proving almost unbeatable across half back with Clarice Huston, Fran Langi and Matilda Delchau on hand to tidy up anything that did get through resulting in the ball being camped in the Tigerettes forward 50. Gez Croke took a strong mark and goaled followed by Siau Goh’s first goal for the season after a free kick.

The rain became heavier in the final term. Madeleine Griffin came on after an extended spell on the sidelines and took some nice marks across half forward. Tracey Mosely capped off a best afield display to set up the final Tigerettes goal with Lani getting a second to be the only multiple goal kicker taking the final margin out to 46 points.

Next week the Tigerettes have their final home game for the season when they host third place Ainslie who will be smarting after going down to Gungahlin this weekend in the upset of the season. Game is on at Town Park, 10am on Sunday morning.

Cheers, Dave
