Four wins from 5 matches last Saturday set the scene for a hugely successful Drop A Bundle Race Meeting at the Tigers Licensed Club on Saturday
night. However, the day was overshadowed by a hollow loss by the Clubs 1st Grade Men’s team succumbing to a far superior Belconnen Magpies at Kippax Oval.
Under 18 Grade Rising Stars.
Overnight rain made footy difficult at Kippax Oval. The ground was saturated for the start of the day with the Tigers Under 18 Grade Rising Stars welcoming back Brad Rauter after a lengthy stay on the sideline from surgery late last year. He in addition to Harry Grant returning after GWS GIANTS Academy commitments certainly bolstered the team. After only 5 points separated the teams at ¾ time, the Tigers eventually ground out a significant win over a quality Magpies combination.
The scores were relatively even throughout the match with the youthful Tigers kicking away in the last term to record a sound victory. Such is the youth of this team, many backed up that day for the Clubs Under 17 age group that afternoon. Thanks to all those who are assisting the club field the two teams each week.
This weekend – the Tigers take on the improved Tuggeranong Hawks on Saturday morning at Manuka Oval (not Football Park as
per the original draw). The game to commence at 10 00am

Tigerettes Reserve Grade
The Tigerettes recorded a solid victory at Allinsure Park over the traveling Cootamundra team who were down on numbers. A few Tigerettes swapped
jumpers for the day to assist Cootamundra. Played in good spirits, the Tigerettes were far more accomplished across the entire field amassing an impressive 17 goals to just 1 by the end of the game.
Lani Watson continues to press for senior grade selection with 6 goals, although a finger injury may halt that elevation in coming weeks. Shay Del Santo was adjudged best on ground.

Tiger Reserve Grade Men’s
It was a hugely disruptive week for the Tigers Men’s teams with a number of players unavailable fr
om the previous week through injury or unavailability. Coach Alex Lawder clearly outlined his frustrations prior to the match in trying to select a competitive team from a limited list available. But competitive they were and from the outset they had the Magpies on the back foot at their home ground.
No-one would have seen the dominance of the Tigers in this match as they destroyed Belconnen over 4 quarters. It was certainly a relieved Coach by games end complimenting each and every player for the manner in which they played.

Men’s 1st Grade
Traveling to Kippax, many would have thought the Tigers were in for a strong performance against the Magpies. They had played some spirited football in the opening three rounds of competition especially against Eastlake the previous week where they had a significant win.
It certainly wasn’t to be the case last Saturday. After an even 1st quarter, Belconnen started to dominate even though scoreboard didn’t indicate that dominance. They outplayed the Tigers with 27 scoring shots to just 11. The Magpies were by far the better team on the day and deserved such a comprehensive victory.
The loss has left the selection panel with a few worries leading up to their next outing against Ainslie at Ainslie after the bye this weekend due to
representative games.

Tigerettes 1st Grade
The final match on a particularly cold day would see the Tigerettes 1st Grade continue their winning way with a 38-point victory over the Magpies at
Kippax Oval. With a host of players unavailable, the Tigerettes will only improve as the season develops.
After an even first half of footy, the Tigerettes applied plenty of pressure in the third term to post three goals one point holding their opponents scoreless. It was much the same in the final quarter for the away team to run out comfortable victors.
The team has the bye this weekend to accommodate a Representative game
