Daniher set to play for GWS in the NAB Cup
Daniher – Captains ACT to Victory.
The Tigers Mitch Daniher was announced Captain prior to the AFL Canberra Representative team taking on the GWS Giants last weekend and played an inspired game.
The end result was a tough win to the local team in front of an estimated 2500 people at a well appointed Ainslie Oval.
The duel Mulrooney Medalist has been further honoured with selection to participate with the GWS Giants during their NAB Cup Campaign. He will join Ainslie players Marcus Crook and Ben Hughes – all three players being dominate participants of the ACT’s victory over the Giants – the score being 12.7 (79) to 8.19 (67).
The Tigers were well represented in the match with Andrew Swan having the unenviable task of holding down CHB and FB during the duration of the match. Kaine Stevens gained praised for his consistent effort in particular for a bone crunching tackle.
Todd Dickinson displayed his undoubted talent and improved form since the start of 2010. He may consider himself a little unlucky at not being one of the possible candidates for GWS selection. Ryan Price posted the final goal of the match to seal victory for the local team. He gained tremendous applause for his chase and tackle just prior to ¾ time in front the official marquee.
Overall, the promotional representative fixture went a long way to establishing the Giants as a power to be on the local football scene as well as restoring confidence in local representative football .
The venue provided a perfect setting for the match with an atmosphere reminiscent of the old Football Park days. Congratulations to the team, organises of the event and to the AFC for the presentation of the ground on the day.
