Hugely Successful Working Bee

The clubs yearly working bee at Aulich Park is the usual start of a busy month for the Tigers Volunteers with last Saturdays effort by all in attendance an outstanding success with 55 people representing all age groups from the seventies down through to the teens.

After 7 hours the ground underwent a huge transformation with the following activities taking place:

  • additional seating erected on the banks of the car park overlooking the ground and new fence line cleaned as part of our latest NSW State Govt. Grant from Nicole Overall.

  • trees and hedges trimmed.

  • surrounding banks mowed.

  • toilet and shower facilities thoroughly cleaned.

  • car parks and surrounding area cleaned.

  • walkway around retaining wall cleaned of flood debris etc.

  • gym cleaned and area rearranged.

  • grandstand seats and areas washed down.

  • touch up painting and cleaning of visiting and umpires change rooms.

  • pathways edged and sprayed.

  • Walk of Honour cleaned.

  • on ground maintenance with divots filled, edging around perimeter of oval and the surfaced mowed once again.

A wonderful effort in 35 degree heat.

Our ladies provided refreshments for both brunch and lunch !!

Thank you sincerely to all who attended especially to the group of players who worked tirelessly building the new seating which will be excellent for spectators who would prefer to view the games from the car park end of the ground.

Too many of the 55 to be named, but special recognition to Steve Grocott and Fred Gisik for their efforts during the week setting the tone for what was to occur on Saturday along with those of Joan Vosnakes.

Incredible contributions by the above mentioned should not go unrecognised.

And why do we do it – we have a proud responsibility to maintain and develop a wonderful community asset that all of Queanbeyan and the surrounding Palerang District can be proud of whilst giving those who participate in the working bee personal and proud ownership of the ground by way of being active in its continued development.

Next weekend we can showcase the facilities to those visiting women's teams participating in the McDonald's Cup proudly supported by McDonald's QBN & Jerra / Patches Asphalt / Cluch TV / AFL Canberra / Coke Canberra / Scotto's Food Logistics / Barlens / Lifeline Canberra
