Two wins, a loss and a forfeit were the results of matches conducted by the Tigers last weekend.

The Tigerettes featured in a Friday night game at Dairy Farmers Park against ADFA in a rescheduled match. They were too strong for the cadets.   The Tigers Rising Stars were all geared up, strapped and ready to take on Tuggeranong at Greenway Oval last Sunday morning only to be informed that the Hawks would be forfeiting the match.   In the second match at the same venue the Tigers 1st Grade unbeaten run came to an end with Tuggeranong taking a strong lead early in the game. An inaccurate Tigers team were unable to peg them back.

In the NEAFL match at Manuka Oval that afternoon, the Tigers played Eastlake Demons and were far too accomplished for their opponents winning comfortably.

Tigers in big win.

Tigers in big win.

The Tigers were missing four players from the previous weeks line up with ball magnet Toby Conroy missing only his second game for the club in four years through injury along with Jake Hiep (unavailable) and Toby Richards and Paul Franchi not being named due to injury.   Another two players withdrew from the team on the Saturday evening being Daniel Johnson and Ben Fulford.

With Ben King and Will Griggs still absent with long term knee injuries, the Tigers were not expected to dominate proceedings but after the first quarter the relentless pressure imposed by every player provided an ever improving Tigers combination with a strong win over the Demons.

The Tigers will now play Sydney University – a team that easily defeated the Tigers in the opening round but lost to Belconnen last Sunday in the upset of the NEAFL competition thus far this season.   Ryan Quade will post his 200th Club appearance in this match next Saturday at Sydney Uni Oval at 12 noon.Eastlake1.21.52.76.7-43Queanbeyan2.35.611.918.13-121

The Tigers 1st grade team took the brunt of players missing from the NEAFL team with no less than 7 players missing from the previous week’s team.   The Hawks kicked with a strong breeze in the opening stanza posting 6 goals to nil and from there managed only a further 2 goals.   The Tigers were unable to close the gap with inaccuracy when kicking with the wind being their downfall.

They now take on Ainslie at the Alan Ray Oval next Sunday at 11.30am. Neil Irwin will play his 200th Club game in this match .
