Ella Shea (nee Ross) calls time on playing career.

ree

Not many players can claim their last game was a Premiership but don't tell Ella Shea that as she looks to push her team over line against Ainslie on Saturday and hopefully claim her 5th Premiership Medal.

After 8 years and 105 1st Grade Games with the Tigers, Ella will call time on her playing career following this Saturday's Grand Final and will be recognised as one of the most decorated Tigerettes in our short history.

ree

Ella is one of 7 Tigerettes to play 100 1st Grade games joining fellow players Lani Watson (142), Hannah Dunn (134), Kristen Argent (nee Turner) (122), Megan Godfrey (112), Carly Swan (nee Res) (111) and Lauren Flakelar (105).

Ella would have chalked up many more games over the years, however her high standards led her to be drafted to the GWS GIANTS AFLW team in 2017 where she played 8 games followed by 14 games at the Richmond Tigers VFLW team in 2018.

Ella has achieved success at the highest level available with the Tigers with two 2nd Division Premierships 2014 & 2015 and two 1st Grade Premiership in 2017 & 2019.

She has a Tigerette record of 4 Club Best and Fairest awards 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019 and sits equal 2nd in the Tigers all time Best & Fairest winners behind Tony Wynd (5) and equal with James Black and Jack McNamara at 4.

"A wonderful achievement"

ree

We congratulate Ella on a wonderful career and look forward to seeing what comes next for our one of our most loved and respected Tigerettes.

Two Tigers legends will be hanging up the boots following this weekend's Grand Final, with one still a chance for 1 more accolade and the other cruelly having his chance taken away by injury.

ree

Premiership Players Toby Conroy and Will Griggs will go down as Tigers legends with both having achieved 277 First Grade Games, 4 Premierships, 3 Tony Wynd Medal Best & Fairest and 1 Mulrooney Medal between them.

As mentioned, Conroy will be hoping for a fairy tale finish when he runs out this Saturday for his last game in the Grand Final while Griggs broke his leg in round 9 which cancelled his season and now coaches on the sideline.

Griggs a local junior has had a stella career with his beloved tigers playing 129 First Grade Games and winning the 2021 Tony Wynd Medal plus the League's Mulrooney Medal.

ree

He was a major player in what is regarded as the club's finest Premiership in 2012 when the tigers defeated the Sydney Swans Reserves in the NEAFL and then again played another crucial role when the club won the 2020 Premiership defeating Eastlake.

Affectionately called Grigga, Will may have reached that magical 200 game milestone but spent 5 years with Riverina Football League club Griffith where he also had great success and coached the club to 2 Grand Finals.

Toby a Leeton junior joined the Tigers in 2010 following stints in the VFL where he quickly established himse winning the Best & Fairest in the same season. The accumulator always sets high possession standards and his efficiency is second to none.

ree

Like Griggs, Toby was an important part of the 2012 Premiership win and continued with the club until the call home was too great and he returned to Leeton in 2016 playing in the Grand Final that year and breaking the clubs premiership drought the following year in 2017.

Conroy then returned to the Tigers in 2018 winning another Best & Fairest in 2019 and was an instrumental part of the teams 2020 Flag against Eastlake. With 2021 taken away from everyone, the lure of that one more premiership was too tempting and he gets that chance this Saturday.

ree

The club can't thank both men enough for their commitment to the club over many years, they are two quality people who are loved by all involved. We hope they can continue on in some sort of off field roles and help guide our next generation of Tig

Toby and Will - Thank You from your Tigers Family and let's get one more win this Saturday!
